“As I lay shivering in sweat, I could smell the lions as they circled my small tent roaring into the night, I wondered if they could smell me.”

Where else in the world could you experience this, but in Africa. So much has been written about the continent, her majesty’s, her disparities and above all her survival with all odds against her. Shirli has lived in South Africa all her life and has a deep love for the continent. The great parks keep her entrenched on these shores and she never grows tired of visiting them and learning more each time.

She has many voices on various things happening or equally not happening. She feels passionate about certain issues and has no trepidation in voicing her opinions. She has picketed, marched and petitioned for various causes she believes in and has been working for a number of trusts concerning animals for years.

“I don’t believe in being quiet, one small voice becomes much bigger and more powerful when added to those of others. I embrace that enthusiastically. I despise apathy; it’s the rot of this apathy that something is lost forever. Rather than a daily journal, this is an area to highlight some things in Africa that interest me in whatever way or to tell the adventure stories.”
