With the digital age in photography, the processing of images is now in the hands of photographers. This is the thrill for Shirli, to experiment with the image, taking out the colour to let the subject show through more dramatically, burning, dodging areas for light and contrast with instinct and creating another canvas to her eye.
the colour is almost more ‘untainted’ to her, leaving
the subject of the image with no distractions, the
textures reflecting more. It’s personal and subjective and
there are no rules. African faces are a subject that she
